6 Things Ahead From Fortuna Found
I am almost done with my ten day challenge of a blog post everyday. After that I will be returning to my regular of at least one post a week every Monday. I noticed something after last year of the ten lists in ten days, I felt energized and encouraged to create new content, and try new things in the year ahead! This year the ideas have been flowing, and I am really looking forward to the year to come. As always, if you have ideas or suggestions let me know, I really want to make this a resource that is useful for everyone.
So, here are a few things you can look forward to in 2020 from Fortuna Found
1. Challenges and Prizes
I had a LOT of fun last year doing the We Fly Global Kite Challenge, and also learned a lot about how to make it better going ahead. Stay tuned sometime around April for the announcement about the WFGKC 2020 and how you can participate. At the same time, I am going to be doing mini challenges throughout the year. Challenges that will hopefully inspire you and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone. Each challenge will be a 'virtual challenge', so folks from around the world can participate. There will also be unique prizes available for each challenge.
2. Website Revamp
I think it is important to keep the website alive and fresh, so look for some changes around here to make it easier to navigate, more engaging, and giving you more stuff that is useful to you as a kite person. (be that a kite flier, kite maker, designer, enthusiast etc)
3. Tutorials - Beginner to Masterclass
Something that I have been working on for the past year and a half is a series of free tutorials covering a wide array of topics related to kites. I have had a lot of valuable input and advice from various experts in their disciplines, and a few of them have signed on to share their knowledge with the public. Along with the tutorials will come a digital learning space (like a classroom) with guidance that can help you on your journey. As an example, think about stunt kite flying, I want to be able to offer you a syllabus of sorts that shows you where you start, what steps you should or could take next, and how to progress to the next level. Most of these will be self directed so that you can tweak and tailor your learning path to just you. These will be in the Members section (free to be a member!), the Playground, and another soon to be announced space.
4. USA Sport Kite
This is not necessarily a project of Fortuna Found, but it is something I am going to be deeply involved in. It is centered around promoting, encouraging, and fostering growth in the US Sport Kite Committee, and revamping the competition scene.
5. Mo' Beta' Swag
Pardon the slang, but I do plan on releasing more awesome kite related stuff. Be it shirts, bags, or various other items. All of these things help support stuff like the free kites I give away at kids kite building workshops. I am hoping to make it available that if organizations, clubs, or teachers are looking for free kites they can simply contact me and I have a back stock I can send them, regardless of where they are! Right now I have to restrict these events a little bit due to the cost to myself. I also know that folks love a good kite shirt, so, they can get a double whammy. A good shirt and know that their purchase is supporting something awesome.
6. Newsletter?
I have been asked by a few folks to do some sort of digital newsletter. Have it be a snapshot of things going on around the world and add in some curated content. I am still unsure about this one, however, if enough people want it... it will happen!
There are quite a few more things here and there that are potentially in the works for the year ahead, but I am not ready to 'release the kraken' on those and let the world know just yet.
