This is a modified edo using Mike Mosman's design, with some changes. The sail is 80"x40", made of appliqued 3/4 ounce ripstop nylon, with artwork by Roy Lichtenstein (his Aspen Winter Jazz Festival 1967 poster). Longerons are SkyShark P90s, spreaders are solid .125" carbon rods. Fittings are FSD endcaps (3.2mm and 7mm), with .21" split rings, 3/32" bungee cords at top and bottom, and my own custom-made swiss cheese tensioners on the bow lines. Cascade bridle. The bridle is secured to the frame with pigtails that pass through the sail and are larksheaded onto the spreaders and split ring, with the P90s passing through the ring. In previous versions of this kite, if the bridle is not under tension the pigtails would pull through the sail, allowing the spars to pull away from the sail. To fix this, at each bridle point I put a small circle of insignia tape, then a tiny rubber O-ring, and sandwiched that together with another larger circle of insignia tape. The pigtail has a stopper knot tied on the front of the sail. The knot can't pull through the O-ring, so it remains in place, keeping the spar against the sail, even if the bridle is untensioned. This also minimizes dark areas on the sail that interfere with the graphic.
